2nd and 3rd Interviews!

My applications began to be marked complete when my Letters of Recommendation were uploaded to AMCAS two weeks ago. And since then, I’ve gotten two interview invites in addition to the one at Ohio State that I currently hold. First, The Commonwealth Medical College, and second, The George Washington University.
TCMC is the new medical school [...]

First Interview

What a great morning! The weather is that perfect, sunny but a little chilly, anything-is-possible weather. I got breakfast from my favorite local coffee shop. And I awoke to find an interview invite waiting for me in my email! Ohio State invited me to interview with them next month!
Since I updated last, I’ve received a [...]

AMCAS Submitted

I’ve been working on my AMCAS for a few months now, but even after all that time I got butterflies in my stomach as I went to submit the application today.  It really hits you that it’s final; you can’t modify your application once you hit “Submit” (at least, the personal statement or your work/activities). [...]

AMCAS Done

I finished filling out the AMCAS application. It’s done! My statement is completed, my activities all have descriptions, and I’ve had my transcript sent in. Now I just have to wait until June when I can actually submit it. Huzzah!

Here we go again

As of Tuesday, the 2010 AMCAS is now open. And I’ve already started filling it out. The long, long process begins…

The Commonwealth Medical College

I’m really trying to solidify my list of schools, and for the most part I’m satisfied with what I’ve come up with, but I just started looking into The Commonwealth Medical Colllege.  It’s a new med school in northeastern Pennsylvania, Scranton to be exact.
Pros: it’s close to the family of my significant other, and it’s [...]

My list of schools

After a few months of working on a list of schools here and there, I’ve finished my list.  As it stands now, I will apply to 20 schools, a bit more than the 16 I did last time.  I’ve tried to be wiser when it comes to choosing schools than I was in 2007, by [...]

3 strokes, makes you think

So last night, during my volunteering shift at a Meals-On-Wheels type organization, I met someone who’s gotten me thinking.  He was a fellow volunteer, no older than I am, and he’s suffered 3 strokes.  All within the course of one month while he was at college.
I have certain preconceptions about stroke patients, and he defied [...]

Where I want to be in one year

A year ago, I had my first (of 4) interviews at SUNY Downstate.  It was an overcast day, my interviewer seemed very preoccupied, and although I had nothing to compare the experience to, I didn’t really like it.  The facilities were very outdated, and our student tourguides didn’t convince me that they themselves liked attending [...]

You’re in Med School? Really?

It seems like every time I log in to Facebook, I find that another of my friends is in med school.  And I have to be honest, I’m surprised that some of them got accepted.
It’s not that they’re going to Low-Ranked School in Podunk, Pennsyltucky, either!  They’re going to good schools!  (Ironically, the most common [...]
